The
Hazardous Household Waste Collection Program
The Saint Louis County Department of Health, in order to better serve the residents of the county, is developing a network of permanent hazardous household waste drop-off locations. Once established, this network will operate year-round, making the process of dealing with accumulated hazardous household waste much more convenient for the individual resident. Until that network is in place, however, the Department of Health will continue to host hazardous household waste collection events. Three such events will be held this spring on the following dates: April 26th, May 3rd and May 17th. (For more information, please see the Spring 2008 Household Chemical Collection Events Flyer.) Last year, the Hazardous Household Waste Program served 11,263 participants at its spring and fall collection events and brought in 1,159,265 pounds of hazardous household materials. It is hoped that by creating year-round hazardous household waste drop-off locations, even more residents will be able to take advantage of this program. Please check back for updates on our plans for permanent drop-off locations. Thank you for your interest in protecting public health and our environment. |
